So this past weekend was my birthday!!! I turned the big 2-7. Yup, I am 27 and that much closer to 30.... Yeah. So I used to make such a big deal out of my birthday, but the older I get the more it like just another day. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my birthday but it's just not the same.
Anyways, Jared surprised me with a card (which played New Kids on the Block I might add:) and the movie 7 Pounds. I asked for new mulch for my birthday, so that was my big item!! I know, how lame... but I really wanted new mulch:) We got to go to my nieces 6th birthday party. I can't believe she is already 6!!! While we were there people kept telling me Happy Birthday. Emylie got a little jealous and said to me "Well I have presents and you don't!" Such a 6 year old. Gotta love her.
We went to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Carabba's. I love it, but we don't go very often because it isn't the cheapest... that and Jared isn't a huge fan. It was prom night, so there was a 75 min wait. We checked the pizza/pasta bar and there were 2 seats waiting for us!! We got to sample some yummy food and watch the chefs do their thing. I was so caught up in watching I didn't realize how much time had passed. Apparently it had been 45 minutes since we had ordered and they came over to tell us our entire meal was free!! Drinks and all. So happy birthday to me:)
Yesterday was Mother's Day, so we had all of our family over for a cookout. It was nice getting us all together and enjoying some yummy food!! We don't have people to our house very often so I love it when they all come over. I was very thankful for Mother's Day to have my mom with us. She and my dad were in a horrible car accident in September. I thank God every day they are here with us!! So to me it was a little extra special this year:)

Life goes on...
So it's been a while since I blogged and thought since I was home sick, it would be a perfect time to get caught up!
We have actually been really busy! We went to Chicago for my Spring Break to help Jared's brother and his FI move. We had a lot of fun...other than the moving part:) Karrie and I stayed in the apartment while the boys carried everything up. It was freezing that morning and drizzling, so Karrie and I got lucky. We had most of the apartment unpacked by the evening. The day after the move we took a train into Chicago. It was my first time on a train...it doesn't take much to excite me:) We went to Field Museum. We were there for about 6 hrs. It was a lot of fun. I had actually never been to a museum. So deprived I know:)
The next day we left and took a detour to Frankemuth, MI. I have wanted to go there for the "Christmas Store." It is the largest Christmas store in the world... yes I said the world!! It was so over stimulating it wasn't even funny. We got there Thurs. just an hour before it closed, so we just browsed. When we got checked into the hotel we walked around the town. The called it the little Bulvarian town. It was so cute. We bought lots of fudge and taffy and went through all the little stores. There were 2 really neat looking restaurants and one was "world famous chicken dinner" and the other was "famous chicken dinner." Decisions, decisions.... So we choose the world famous chicken dinner for that night. It was def. good and VERY filling. The next day before we left we went to a little deli under the famous chicken dinner restaurant. YUMMY!!!! They tasted the same though... Hmmm....
Anyways, we spent about 2 hrs at the Christmas store and spent about $100 and ended up with only 2 ornaments for us, the rest for family and friends. Oh well, it was still neat going there. If you ever make it to the Christmas store, make sure you save time to go to the outlet mall there. It is HUGE. I got a really cute dress from Banana Republic for $30!!
So we got back on a Fri and the next day I got a phone call that my grandpa had been taken by ambulance to the hospital. They thought it was his heart at first. He has a very weak heart they say could give out at anytime. Then they thought it was pnemonia. Finally they realized he had a blockage and his gall bladder was extremely enlarged!! They weren't sure if they were going to be able to do surgery, but the following Tues he had the risky surgery. We were all really worried because there was a high chance he wouldn't make it through the surgery. He made it and they ended up taking out multiple ulcers, his gallbladder, and an inch or so of his colon. He is now recovering in a nursing home!!
So that has been our crazy life so far!
