Teething, Bubbles and Kitties

So, I think we've discovered that Cole is teething. I must say it is not fun... for him OR me:) I feel so bad for him because he is just miserable. So I am trying everything to keep him happy. He hated Oragel. He screamed bloody murder when I put it on his gums. I tried it twice thinking that might have been a fluke. Nope! He hated it both times. Tylenol worked, but I don't want to have to keep giving it to him, but will if I need to. Then I heard people on thebump talk about teething tablets. They are all natural and melt under their tongue. It's hard to get it under his tongue, and he isn't a huge fan, but that seems to be what is working best so far. I've tried the teething ring you put in the fridge, but it usually makes him cry worse. Then I got him another one that has different textures. He doesn't like it either. Can we say high maintenance?? So I bought a vibrating one today. I'll get back to you on that one. What are your favorite teething "toys."

My happy boy is not so happy anymore because he just hurts:( So I am trying to make him happy all day. I would love to be a fly on the wall watching me do different tricks with him. While at the store I saw bubbles. So I bought them. He LOVES them. At first he wasn't so sure. The second time I used them he thought they were hilarious! When they pop on him, he jumps and then starts giggling. It's so cute. I even captured it on camera.

While playing with bubbles, or cat Mojo decided she wanted to play too. Well, Cole is just now noticing them and thought she was hilarious! He kept watching her, then giggling, then watching the bubbles, then giggling. It was quite funny. I still love hearing him laugh! Poor Mojo doesn't know what she has coming:)

What a week!!

So this week has been crazy. Monday night, Cole decided to wake up every 45 minutes. All.Night.Long. UGH! So that made for a crabby baby on Tuesday. Yet he still refused to take very long naps. It's like he decided sleep was totally overrated. Not in my books. So I thought he would sleep good Tuesday night since he was probably sleep deprived. NOT! Up every 1-2 hours.

WHAT? Why would you do this to mommy. It's like he is a newborn all over again. So I decided to take him over to my moms and hang out with her on Wednesday in case I needed a nap and he was still fussy. Nope, he was an angel. I had to run to the store, so my mom kept him. He slept for TWO hours for her. Of course she was holding him the whole time, but still. So that night, he still was up pretty much every 2 hours.

Yesterday was just horrible. He was fussy all day long. Nothing made my baby happy. He looked exhausted and took about 4 one hour naps, but he would wake up happy then it would turn to fussiness within a half hour. He didn't want me to put him down, but he didn't want me to hold him. I felt his gums seeing if he was teething since he has been chewing on his hands and drooling, but I couldn't feel anything. I took his temp and that was normal. So, I had no idea what to do. I eventually gave him some teething tabs because just because I couldn't feel anything, doesn't mean he wasn't hurting. That did nothing either. I was so ready for Jared to get home.

I felt so bad for him, but couldn't figure out what was going on. I still don't know what's going on. He was up about 4 times last night, compared to his normal 1-2 times a night. I could tell he was super tired but something kept waking him up. I just put him down for a nap and am hoping he takes a long one.

I've heard of the 4 month wakeful period which begins around 14 weeks. He turned 15 weeks on Monday, so I'm not sure if that's whats going on or if it's something else. I will gladly take any suggestions as to what to do or what could be going on!

Another first!!

Jared and I took Cole swimming the other day for the first time. I thought he would love it since he LOVES bath time. As soon as we get him naked and wrapped in his blanket ready for a bath, he starts squirming and giggling because he knows it's bath time. He has just recently realized that if he kicks his legs....water goes everywhere.

So needless to say, I was so excited to get him in the pool. It was a gradual entrance pool, so I got in and stood him up. Nothing. Not even a blink. So I though ok, let's sit him down. Well, he wouldn't bend! So I kinda laid him down:) Still nothing. He could have cared less. *Sigh* So I just carried him to the deeper part and swam around with him. I eventually got a few smiles and laughs out of him, but I think I was way more excited then him. You can tell by the pics, he is not really amused. He has the same expression in pretty much every pic. And yes, I have a pic of me in a bathing suit *gasp*

See, he didn't want to bend!

He really did have fun, even though he doesn't look like it:)

Happy Father's Day!!

A few 4 days later, but hey it's the thought that counts, no?? So it was Jared's first Father's Day and I must say I think we did it up good for him. I made a photo collage of pics of Cole and framed it for Jared, got him a card from Cole and a #1 Dad hat (which I doubt he will ever wear). I put the hat on Cole and he helped me carry the card in to him.

I couldn't have asked for a better daddy for Cole. He is so good to him. I love listening to him play with Cole while I'm washing the dishes or doing things around the house. Cole LOVES his daddy. The minute Jared gets home and he sees him, Cole gets the biggest grin on his face. So cute.

Jared and Cole on his 1st Father's Day

Now let me explain the Superman shirt (don't mind the light across his face making it look like he has a mustache:). Not that there is anything wrong with Superman or the shirt, but it's not his normal gear for when we go out. He got it to wear so he could "impress" my nephew. Ok, not really impress but my nephew LOVES superheros. So we got the shirt with him in mind. He wore it to my parents for the cookout on Sunday. Luke had to change his shirt so they matched. It was really cute. Here they are "cheesin" for the camera.

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

On Saturday Jared's brother and his wife were in town from Chicago, so we decided to meet up with them at the zoo.Unfortunately it was 92 degrees!!! Yuck! Poor Cole breaks a sweat just sneezing. So we put him in the main part of the stroller (instead of sticking the car seat in the stroller) because it keeps him cooler, and we had his little stroller fan fresh with batteries.

I knew he would not get into the animals, but it was still fun taking him for his first trip to the zoo. Plus the Columbus Zoo is awesome! They just opened up a new polar bear exhibit, which was amazing. Those bears are huge!! There was glass floor to ceiling and the bears would swim up and around the glass. I put Cole next to it and he caught his eye on it. It was pretty cute.

I'm going to take his pic every year in front of this exact spot to see how much he's grown:)

Nap time

He was so happy to be in the air conditioned car:) Look at his rosy cheeks!

Something new he started is raspberries. Except his raspberries is blowing spit everywhere. He cracks himself up. He laughs every time Jared or I do it and he think we are the hilarious when we make a loud kissing noise. I caught a raspberry on the the camera on our way home.

Sleeping through the night??

Yeah right!!! I thought for sure he would be sleeping through the night (STTN) by now because for a while he was only getting up once a night... twice at the most. Then when he got that tummy bug a month ago and changed formula he is getting up 2-4 times a night! That's on a good night. A few nights he has gotten up almost every hour. Talk about a tired mommy. I can't imagine if I was working how I would function. So hats off to all you new mommy's who work and go through this.

So I've tried to figure out what is going on and come up with multiple reasons.
A. He is teething or getting ready to teethe. He is drooling like crazy and almost always has his whole fist shoved into his mouth. That and within the past 2 weeks he is LOVING his binki. He has never been a huge binki baby and I was ok with that. Now I can't go anywhere without at least 2.

B. He is going through a growth spurt. Been there done that, but he has never slept this bad during one, so who knows.

C. His new formula isn't filling him up as much. He is now on Similac Sensitive (before he was on Similac Soy). He is still eating every 2 hours between 5-6 oz. Although lately he will act like he is starving and only take 2-4 oz then the next 3 times take 6 oz then only a few oz. I'm sure I've waisted quite a bit of formula, but I have no clue how he is going to eat. No I'm not over feeding him, his pedi says some just eat that often. I get kind of jealous of those whose little ones only eat 4oz every 3-4 hrs. That would be nice:) But "little" man loves his food!!

D. He is just being rotten and can't get enough of his mommy at night:)

I've also heard about the 4 month wakeful period, but he is just now 3 months so I doubt it is that. But now I am really dreading that and teething if it isn't that right now. I've come to the conclusion that babies should come with a button. This button will say, "feed me" "play with me" "I don't feel good", etc. *sigh* that would be nice:)

3 Months old

Already?? It seems like I just had him. Kinda makes me sad... he is getting so big. Literally. Every time I tell people how old he is, they always say "He is big for his age" or "He looks so much older than that." Nope, he's only 3 months old. Anyways here is all he can do at 3 months:)

-Holds his head up very well
-He now knows he can sit up with my help and hates to lean back on me:(
-Sits by himself in his bumbo without me worrying he is going to do a face plant.
-Loves his new jumperoo
-Drinks 6 whole oz!! (Almost every 2hrs... maybe thats why he is so big:)
-Sleep isn't too bad (other than last night). He usually sleeps 11-12 hours and only up twice to eat.
-Smiles at everyone... such a flirt!!
-LAUGHS!! I love it. He giggles a lot and is starting to actually laugh *see post below*
-Blows lots of spit bubbles
-Down to 2-3 good naps a day

Herev are some pics from his first time in his jumperoo. I thought it might be too early, but he LOVES it:)

He needs to grow a few inches:)

Laughter

The day after the wedding we decided to relax and once it got cooler out, we were going to go to a memorial they had up for memorial day close to our house. They had 2,000 flags in a field that people could put messages on for their heros. They called it the Field of Heros. It was amazing. We had driven by it both nights on our way home from the wedding. I wanted a few pics of Cole and I in the middle of the flags. The wind was blowing just right, blowing the flags all around us. For some reason out of no where, this caught Cole as super funny! We have heard Cole giggle, but never a full fledged laugh. It was the cutest thing ever!!! He laughed, and laughed and laughed.... which made me laugh and laugh and laugh. I think my laughter made him laugh even more. Jared caught this all on camera. I look like I'm about to pee my pants in some of them, but it was so cute!
I never knew laughter could be such a beautiful sound!

And here is one of the 3 of us at the memorial. If Jared looks extra tired, it's because he was. He worked an 80 hour week and was in his brother's wedding the day before.

I think we've started a new family tradition of coming here! It's a great way to remember those who have served and are serving our country!

Wedding

I have been so busy lately! I'm going to break down what's been going on in a couple of posts:) Too much for one! This is the first time in about a week I've sat down on the computer for more than 5 minutes... blackberry doesn't count:) Anyways, Jared's brother got married last weekend 5-29. I was a little worried about Cole's schedule getting thrown off because the wedding was an hour away, so both Friday night and Saturday we wouldn't be getting home until late. I must brag on Cole for a minute. He did A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Seriously! Everyone kept commenting on how good he was. Of course the proud mommy I am would just say, "He is always a good baby!" Which he is, but I was so proud of him. Before we went down Saturday I put him down for about a 2 hr nap in the morning. I think this helped.

We got down there around 2. He pretty much fussed the whole way down. He still hates the car. It's gotten better, but we have our moments for sure. I went and hung out with the girls while they got ready. He ate and took another nap!! Yay! The wedding didn't start until 5:29 (get married on 5-29 at 5:29) so we had a lot of waiting. The only time he got fussy was when he was hungry. It was SO hot that day. Close to 90 degrees and it was on a farm type place, so they only had ac in the windows. He was so sticky and sweaty, but did great. Finally it was time to get him in his adorable suit. He was a hit, I must say. I felt horrible putting him in his hot pants and vest. Luckily he had a hat to block the sun since it was an outdoor wedding. Poor baby was sweating! Of course he started getting fussy just as it was starting. There was a huge pine tree next to us, so I ran behind it in the shade. It felt 20 degrees cooler. He fell asleep and was out for the rest of the wedding.

The barn that the reception was in was air conditioned, thank God!!!! Everyone wanted to see him, which was hard for me but we will get to that in another post. He did amazing. He even did good when the loud music started. He was shaking a little at first so I took him outside and he was fine when we went back in. We finally left at 10pm, and he was out the whole way home! So needless to say it was a beautiful wedding and Cole was a perfect baby:)

How cute is he??
