3 years ago today...

I married Jared. So I'm going to go all mushy for a bit. He seriously is my best friend. I can tell him anything...I mean anything!! Poor Jared hears it all. He is always there for me no matter how I am acting. Which since becoming pregnant and having Cole, you never know how that is going to be. He was amazing when I had Cole. I had a really hard delivery and recovery and he was there every step of the way. He never once got mad and stopped being there for me no matter how hard it got. I love him so much and I thank God for him every day!

I had to add a pic of our thank you cards:)

Bug is sick...again!!

Cole has his 3rd cold! Poor baby has a horrible cough. It started out with a stuffy nose and went right to his chest. So last week, I spent lots of sleepless nights trying to get him to sleep before he woke up coughing:( I had his vick's cool mist humidifier going, his bed elevated, I lathered his feet and chest in vick's baby rub, gave him tylenol (or benadryl or motrin...depends on which night you asked me), and made sure he was comfy. He never ran a fever, but was miserable! His little cough is hanging on for dear life. It just won't go away. I spent each night before bed in the bathroom with the hot shower running to try and clear his head.

S0, needless to say this past week is a blur!! I'm exhausted, he's exhausted BUT he is slowly getting better. Being sick of course, has not stopped me from taking pics:) He loves looking out the window!

Apple Picking!!

Fall is here (whether the calendar says so or not:) So, on our first weekend with nothing to do in a while, I decided we should take Cole apple picking. We found an orchard about 10 minutes from our house. It was tucked back in and fabulous!! I've actually never been apple picking! So off we went. Ready for picture overload??

Teeth, and shots, and tummy... oh my!

So Cole had his 6 month appointment on Friday which meant the dreaded shots:( Cole is now weighing in at 22pd 12oz (98%) and 27 in long (88%). Big boy for sure. He is now too big for his infant car seat. How sad!! I had to go get a big boy car seat, which of course will remain facing backwards until he is a year old. The pedi said he looked perfect (which is what I always want to hear at his appointments!!!) She was impressed with how well he sits up. He is now eating solids 3 times a day and cereal twice a day with bottles in between. He love his food:) He did very well with his shots. He hates the oral vaccine and of course cried with the shots, but calmed down quickly when I picked him up.

After his shots, when I picked him up, he looked over at the nurse and gave her "the look." His lip came out, his eyes started watering, and he stared at her like "why did you do that to me?" It was so funny! We were all laughing so hard .

So the morning before his appointment, I thought I would see if he got any teeth. I figured it would just be gums, but as soon as I put my finger in his mouth I felt it!! He had a tooth on the bottom left side. I was shocked! I kept feeling it to make sure it was still there. Of course he wouldn't let anyone look at it, not even the pedi. She said she did feel it with the little stick, so I'm not crazy.

And now my big boy is no longer needing to be swaddled. I didn't think he would ever not need it. At nap a few weeks ago he kept kicking off his swaddle, so I got desperate and took it off then put him on his tummy. His head instantly went down and he fell asleep! I couldn't believe it. He used to get so frustrated if he woke up on his tummy because he couldn't roll back over. So, I started putting him on his tummy unswaddled and he sleeps like that day and night:) Of course I find myself checking on him more, but he is able to roll all around and has great head control. I did put the bumper back in and I am glad I did (of course again it makes me worry, but what doesn't?). I had the breathable bumper in for a while, but it had no padding and he is all over the bed and waking himself up. Now I usually go in to find him with his back pressed against the bumper on his side. He loves sleeping like that. His head is facing away from it, but I usually flip him on his tummy if he is out just for peace of mind:) But somehow he always manages to end up that way.

Phew. If you read all this, good for you:) Here are some pics from the day he got his shots. He was a BEAR that night. On top of his shots making him uncomfortable, he was teething!! We had to spend and hour and a half outside before bed to make him happy.

Oh, and did I mention that the same day I found the tooth he started getting up on all fours and rocking, the doing a belly flop and stretch to get what he needs. Ahh!!! Crawling is coming sooner than I thought!! I want my little baby who just lays there back sometimes, but am so proud of all his new milestones.

6 Months old!

I can't believe he is half a year old already. I seriously teared up thinking about it. I want my baby to stay a baby a little longer:) But, as he grows he is getting so much more fun. We celebrated his half birthday by giving him peas for the first time. To my surprise he loved them. I hate...seriously hate...peas!! I hate the smell, the texture, the taste. Yuck! But, if he so chooses to like peas I will make them for him.

At 6 months he can:
-Sit unassisted for long periods of time
-Roll every which way
-Scoot backwards
-Scoot in circles
-Reaches for me all the time. (I love it:)
-Gives me kisses
-Talks up a storm:)
-He is wearing 12 month tops and rompers and 12-18 month pants
-Sleeping unswaddled on his belly!! (this just started last week)
-Loves watching any animal he can get his eye on...especially the cats!

Check out his 6 month pics... so.stinkin.cute (how many rolls do you see?:)

For some reason he turns this pic when I load it...but you get the idea.

Weekends...

Let me start off by saying I have a love hate relationship with weekends. I love having Jared home and being able to go out and do things with the 3 of us, but in order to do that it messes up Cole's schedule. I'm a huge schedule person. That and Cole HAS to have at least 3 naps a day. That might sound like a lot, but his naps are not long at all. He takes 2- 30 minute naps and 1- hour-hour and a half nap early afternoon. If he doesn't get any of those naps, he is a bear to be around.

So this weekend was crazy, and so are pretty much the next 3 weekends. We went to Jared's parents house Sunday because his brother was in town and it was his birthday. So we timed it up so that we would leave our house before Cole's long nap. They live about an hour away and he slept the whole time. We decided to drive around for an extra 30 minutes. So he did pretty good and actually slept on me for about 30 minutes while everyone was busy cooking and getting things ready (yeah I was lazy and didn't help:0) But around 5:30...he was done! He wanted to go home. I sat in the back with him the whole way home to keep him awake since it was so close to his bedtime (we ended up leaving around 6:30). You should have seen Jared and I trying to keep him awake. We were singing and making crazy noises. Jared actually found a station that was playing like tribal music, so we were blaring it and clapping and making goofy sounds. He loved it of course, but the second we stopped he would start crying. We didn't get too many pics while at their house, but we managed a few of him and his parents dog and brother's new pup. I was a little nervous, but they were great with Cole.

I'm looking at the dogs like "You try anything and I will hurt you two!!"

I love how he is looking at them like "What cha lookin at?"

Those are Cole's feet, he kept kicking the dog and the pup just took it:)

Then on Memorial day we went to my brother and sister in laws new house for a cookout. We showed up a little late because we let Cole sleep as long as he would for his long nap (a whopping 50 minutes). My niece had a tad bit too much fun with Cole:

But Cole had the last laugh when my nephew sat down beside him. Poor Ethan didn't know what to think:)

Here are some more pics from that day to enjoy

So it was a good weekend, but I've been suffering from the fun all day today. At least it's short week:)

Can I stop time?

Cole is growing up way too fast!! He is rolling around, sitting all by himself, while on his tummy he scoots backwards all over, talking all the time, playing with toys. *SIGH* I miss my baby, but am so excited watching him learn all this new stuff. We got a pass to the zoo this weekend and tried taking him again. We thought he would love it, since he is mesmerized by our cats. They walk into the room and he stops whatever he is doing to watch them, then starts cracking up at whatever they are doing...even if it's just walking:)

So we thought he would be more interested in the animals this time. Ha! Nope:) I think a lot has to do with he had no clue what he was supposed to be looking for. The animals were all pretty far away. He really enjoyed watching the trees and all the other kids. When we thought he had his eye on the animal, we realized he was watching the trees or windmill. But our pass is good for a year. I can't wait to take him to the wild zoo lights. They light up the whole zoo at Christmas time. Hopefully we will get a mild evening so we can take him.

He is seriously the most nosy baby ever. He HAS to know what's going on. It makes feeding him very interesting!! If a cat walks in the room, he is leaning over trying to watch them. If Jared walks in he has to know what he is doing. When we are out, he just loves watching everything that is going on. Anywhere we are he has to be sitting up looking around so he doesn't miss anything. It's quite funny to watch him. He might have gotten his looks from daddy, but he definitely got this from mommy:)

I took Cole out in the grass for the first time last week. At first her wasn't so sure what to think of it

Then he started getting used to it.

And my favorite picture!! He thought it was great:)

Then he decided he was tired of this whole sitting up thing and plopped himself back.

Isn't he the cutest little guy ever??
