11 months

So, he will be 12 months in a little under 2 weeks but since things have been so crazy I'm just now getting around to posting this. Bad blogger!! So he is Mr.Independent. Cole loves to do anything and everything by himself. No help from mommy, please! My little baby is growing up. He is so funny, though. We eat dinner together at night and Jared and I just sit and laugh at him. He is seriously funny!!

We did have to go back to the dr yesterday because he was up all night again crying:( Like before, amoxicillan (sp?) didn't touch his ear infection. Now he not only has a yucky double ear infection, but he has an eye infection and is teething. He is getting his top 2 eye teeth and his bottom 2 side teeth (are those called eye teeth as well). So we are on to a new, more powerful medicine. Last night wasn't any better, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed tonight is somewhat better.

Here are some stats:
-Wearing 18 months
-Takes a few steps here and there by himself
-Climbs the stairs like a champ with no help
-Loves to push anything that moves around the house to help him walk. His favorite is a kitchen chair.
-Drinking from a sippy cup with no problem
-We won't talk about sleep
-Babbles all the time and cracks himself up
-Loves playing peek a boo with anything and every
-He is so ornery. Gets into anything he can get his hands on
-LOVES books. He just sits on the floor and looks through books at least 5 times a day!!
-Gives the best hugs ever!

He can do so many other things but these are what are on top of my head. Here are some recent pics.

He is SO over these month pics....

12 Weeks

Oops, so I'm almost 13 weeks but I get some slack for what's been going on:) We had a check up yesterday and got to hear Baby Love's heart beat. My heart still stops until they pick it up on the doppler and then I have a huge sigh of relief. We brought Cole with us yesterday. Not that he has any clue what's going on, but it will be neat to tell him "When you were little you heard your baby brother/sister's heart beat when they were in mommy's belly!"

So, I've been feeling really good. I went a whole week without any zofran. I had to take some the last 2 nights because I haven't felt well, but that might be from sheer exhaustion. But something weird has been happening to my leg. I keep getting a shooting pain from the bottom of my left thigh down to the middle of my calf. Especially when sitting. Then last night when I went to go get Cole when he was crying my whole left leg was asleep. My ankle totally gave and I collapsed into the door. Luckily I didn't fall on my stomach, but it hurt like no other. I freaked Jared out and he jumped out of bed. I pulled myself together and was ok. Now today it still feels semi asleep. I'm wondering if something isn't pushing on a nerve, which would suck since I'm so early. I would expect something later, but this early? It's the only thing I can think of. Anyone been pregnant and experienced anything like this?

Well we set up our big u/s yesterday to find out the sex of Baby Love. Unfortunately he will be out of town in 4 weeks so we have to wait SEVEN weeks. That's years away in my eyes! I'm so impatient. I think I have Jared talked into finding out early at one of those 3d u/s places you pay to go to. You can find out as early as 14 weeks...umm thats less then 2 weeks away! (Insert squeal here). So, I will keep you updated on what we are going to do. Think it will be worth it?

And for the survey:
  • How far along?: 12 weeks 5 days
  • Total weight gain: Only 5 pds
  • Stretch marks?: None
  • Sleep?: Not losing any from the baby...just from Cole......STILL:)
  • Best moment this week?: Hearing the heart beat and setting up our next u/s
  • Sex: Yesterday made me think boy because of the heart beat was exactly the same as Cole's but who knows!!
  • Movement?: I know it's early and probably gas but I felt little pops this week. I'm probably crazy, I know:)
  • Food cravings?: Pizza!
  • Labor signs?: No way!!
  • Belly button in or out?: Innie
  • What I miss: Energy!!
  • What I'm looking forward to: My big u/s
  • Milestone: Depends on who you ask...I'm out of 1st tri, but I'll give it till 13 weeks until it's official:)
It's not the best picture because it has been a LONG few weeks!! But here ya go. I am definitely getting something. I have to wear maternity pants:/

Urgent Care

I thought Cole was getting over the worst of his cold. He was back to sleeping in his crib, only getting up a few times at night (which is still good for him). Last night he woke up every hour. Around 3am I decided to feed him because he hasn't been eating much lately. After eating, he kept spitting his binki out. I figured he just wanted to play so I put him in his crib and decided it was time to let him fuss for a bit because mama was tired. Only problem is, he never really went back to sleep.

Jared and I caught Cole's cold, so we are both super congested. Jared was ready to get up for the day because he couldn't breath so he couldn't sleep. I let Cole cry for a few, went in, laid him down, kissed him then walked out. I kept doing this over and over and he kept getting more and more upset. Very unlike him. He usually calms down after a while. I finally had Jared bring him to me in bed, but he just kept crying. I had Jared take him downstairs to play himself to sleep.

After 20 minutes of listening to him cry, I went down to see what was going on. He never calmed down. I knew he was exhausted so I took him back to his room to rock and try to get him to sleep. He cried for about 15 minutes before he gave in and fell asleep. The second I put him in his crib he woke up screaming. I picked him up and rocked him some more, with quite a bit more crying. When he was out cold, I brought him to bed with me. Again he woke up and cried, but eventually fell asleep on me for an hour.

Around 7am he woke up. Jared came and got him, only problem was...he continued crying again. So I got out of bed to see if I could help. NOTHING was working, he was just crying and crying and breaking my heart. I knew something wasn't right! We finally distracted him enough he stopped crying. So I took this opportunity to try and get him down for a nap. He slept for about 45 minutes then woke up screaming again and wouldn't stop.

At this point, I knew we needed to go to Urgent Care. Of course it was Sunday and this was our only option. We get there and they didn't open for another hour so we just drove around and he fell asleep again. We got to U.C. 15 min after it opened and the waiting room was already full:( BUT, we ended up only being there 1.5 hours. I was very proud of Cole. He did so good sitting there, even though he REALLY wanted to get down.

Once the dr checked him out, sure enough he had a double ear infection. Poor baby cannot get a break this winter!! I'm so ready for spring/summer! So Jared is at the pharmacy getting his script and he is actually sleeping in his crib (going on 2 hrs!!). So hopefully we all get a good nights sleep and he starts feeling better asap!

Really???

So last Thursday I noticed Cole seemed a little off. He wasn't himself and super whiny. Friday morning, he woke up hoarse and with a cough:( Ugh!! I hate it when my baby is sick. We went a month sick free so I guess it was time for him to catch something else. Friday night, I was up with him all night. Poor baby couldn't sleep. Around 1am, I noticed he felt really warm. Took him temperature and it was 102.8.

Saturday we snuggled all day and kept up on motrin and tylenol. His fever was gone in the morning, but it was short lived. That night his fever was back and he wouldn't even sleep in his crib. Same thing happened Sunday night. By now, I am pooped. I figured he had a fever for long enough, so off to the dr. They ran a flu test. It was horrible. It was a cotton swab as long as my arm! I had to hold him down while another nurse held his head and the pedi stuck it up his little nose:( He screamed worse with this then when he had his blood drawn. And he had lots of bloody boogs...yummy:)

Well, the flu test came back negative so we have to wait it out. Poor baby is miserable! Yesterday he just laid on me for an hour! He hasn't done this since he was a newborn. Cole doesn't just lay still. His fever had returned:( Although, last night was the first time since Friday he actually stayed in his crib for most of the night! He woke up quite a bit, but didn't refuse to lay down. I'm hoping this means he is getting better. He didn't seem quite as congested.

So that's how we spent his first valentine's day. He was crawling around whining and crying pretty much all day:( I hate seeing my baby sick!

Here are some pics of how his gift went down...it wasn't very pretty.

The gift...

The reaction (yes, he is crying)

Wait, there's a card??

Ok, he likes it now....

And last but not least, an oh so cute pic of Cole and his valentine:)

Ice, walking and party planning

What a week!! We started out our week with a nice ice storm. We got about an inch of ice between Tues and Wednesday. Tuesday night at 10:58 our power went out....until 1pm Wednesday afternoon:( I couldn't sleep because I need a fan and I was too busy trying to listen for Cole. I ended up shutting the cats in our basement and keeping Cole and our door open so I could hear him. He woke up around 11:30 so I tried bringing him in our room to sleep to keep him warm. That didn't work, he though it was play time. I finally gave up around 1:30 and put him back in his crib. I had to open his black out curtains because his room was so dark, so that helped give him some light. He still woke up quite a few times but only for a minute or 2. I put 2 quilts and 1 fleece blankets on him to keep him warm.

When he woke up at 7, we called my mom to make sure she had power and packed up to head to their house. When we left our house the thermostat said 60 degrees. Brrrr!! We weren't sure how long we would be there. On our way we actually slid into a mailbox in my parents neighborhood and banged up the front of my car:( Luckily we weren't going fast but Jared had no control of the car (Jared took the day off and the little girl I watch took off because they didn't have power either). All is well, we gave them our name and info and moved on.

I was worried he wouldn't nap, because he has never slept anywhere other then our house. It took about 45 minutes to get him down for his first nap, but he slept an hour once asleep!! His next nap didn't take quite as long to get him down and he still napped over an hour. Wahoo!! That means he can nap in other places! Luckily our neighbor called around 1 to tell us the power came back on!! We waited a while to let the house heat up. So around 5:30 we headed home for the night.

After our fun filled Wednesday, things got back to normal on Thursday. Wouldn't you know it, Cole took his first 3 steps!! He was holding onto the couch and I was holding his monitor. Apparently he really wanted it and let go of the couch and took 3 steps before falling into me! I was shocked. Of course I cried:) I'm so proud of him, but sad at how fast he is growing up. He has taken a few steps here and there, but he isn't running around quite yet:)

Onto other news... I have been working on planning Cole's first birthday party!! I've decided to go with a Frog Prince theme. I have some super cute stuff. Maybe I will post later about some things I have in mind....we'll see. Here are some pics from our past week. I took some ice pictures but have no clue where I put them on the computer:/

His new thing is talking on his "phone"

This pic makes me laugh. It's his "busted" look!!

Ha! Jared didn't think this one through:)

10 weeks!

So I'm a little late, but I am 10 weeks 3 days. I'm still feeling pretty good. Although, I am still taking my zofran. If I don't take it, I usually feel pretty icky the next day. Nothing like with Cole, but still not great....but I will take this any day over how I felt with Cole. Jared and I are wavering on whether or not to get a 3d ultrasound at 14 weeks to determine the sex. The little girl I babysits mom went when she was 14 weeks. They have a money back guarantee (even that early) and if the baby doesn't cooperate you can keep coming back for free until they get a good view!! BUT, we are trying to save money we will find out around 17 or 18 weeks through my dr. Plus it would be the week of Cole's birthday and we definitely have enough other expenses then. So who knows what we will do:)

I finally busted out the maternity pants today. They aren't kidding when they say you show sooner with your first. I definitely have a little belly going. I have only gained about 5 pds, but I feel like my belly is a "is she getting fat or pregnant" belly. So we took my first belly shot. I look a little awkward but you get the idea:)

  • How far along?: 10 weeks
  • Total weight gain: Ok, so maybe I've gained about 5 pds. I thought nothing, but what do ya do:)
  • Stretch marks?: None
  • Sleep?: Not losing any from the baby...just from Cole:)
  • Best moment this week?: Hmmm....pretty boring week
  • Sex: Still not sure
  • Movement?: Just gas:)
  • Food cravings?: Yeah, it was white castles this week.....
  • Labor signs?: No way!!
  • Belly button in or out?: Innie
  • What I miss: Sleep and my energy
  • What I'm looking forward to: My next appt hearing the hb
  • Milestone: Nothing major this week
