1 Month

Eva is already a month old. This past month has been such a blur. You forget how sleep deprived you get and add in a toddler and it's a whole new level of sleep deprivation... but I wouldn't have it any other way. We are getting more and more smiles every day. I love how she smiles with her whole body. She is eating 3.5 oz every 2 hours during the day, then at night she usually goes 3-4 hours between the first 2 feedings then every 2 hours after that. Although the last 2 nights she has been super restless after her first feeding. I think she's going through a growth spurt because she always seems hungry. I usually end up bringing her to bed with me after the second feeding because I can't stay awake to keep rocking her to sleep. A habit I need to break very soon:)

Here is Cole at one month. Think they look alike?:)

Fall Fun

So things are slowly getting better. The gas drops seem to help but we definitely still have a fussy little girl, but at least she doesn't seem in pain. The past two days have been really good so I'm hoping we are turning a corner. Cole is still doing amazing and growing like a weed. He makes me laugh so much. He really is a funny kid. I think he's going to be a little comedian. Either that or a dancer. You should see this kid shake his booty:) He's got some rhythm.

On Sunday we dropped Eva off at my parents and took Cole apple picking. He was so excited when he realized he can eat what he picks off the trees. I kind of feel bad because we kind of wasted a lot of apples. He would pick it off take a bite and throw it. There were so many other apples we had no clue which was his. He had a great time. It was a lot of fun.

Not going to lie...

This week has been awful!! Starting first thing Monday morning Eva threw up her entire bottle, Cole had so many poopy diapers he got a diaper rash, and I just didn't feel good. Every time Eva wasn't eating or sleeping she was screaming and poor Cole was getting the shaft because I had to take care of Eva. He has been doing great, though. He has watched more tv/movies then I like but it has helped us this week. When Eva would eat she started crying and stiffening and acting like she was choking on it. It just got worse as the week went on. By the end of the day I was spent. I was over the crying and felt bad for feeling that way. I knew something was wrong.

Finally on Thursday I put a call in to the dr. The nurse called back and said it sounds like really bad gas pains and to give her gas drops with every bottle and to try dr.brown bottles. Luckily my neighbor had like 15 left over from when her daughter was a baby. Let me also say it is impossible to get her to burp. Seriously, everyone has tried. Since starting those 2 things she seems to be getting better. Still definitely fussy, but nothing like before. And I can actually get her to burp every 2 or 3 bottles, which is a start. I really hope this helps. When she would start to cry I noticed Cole would sometimes just leave the room and go to his playroom. He has handled everything so well.

So that's our week in a nut shell. Puke, poop, screaming and bottles.... lots of bottles:) Another thing she has been doing is taking forever to go back to sleep when she takes her bottles at night. I'm talking like an hour, then she was up an hour or two later to eat. I usually end up bringing her to bed with me because I can't keep my eyes open. I hate having to do that, but Cole is waking up at 6am on the dot and ready to go for the day. We have made lots of Starbucks run this week and the pumpkin spice frapp with no whip and I have become best friends. I'm hoping this changes soon and I will be able to put her down drowsy and she will put herself to sleep...but I know I have some time for that.

He love "holding" his sissy.

And showing her how to play with his old toys.

Eva's first time on the play mat, and she really enjoys it!!

Here we are

We have our good days and our bad. Cole is doing an amazing job adjusting. I can't say it enough how proud of him I am. I'm still learning what Eva likes and doesn't like. She is a little cuddle bug and I just soak in every moment I get to snuggle with her. She is definitely not a fan of being put down, so that makes things interesting during the day. I have learned that she is a baby and is going to cry. If I can't get to her the very second she starts crying, it's ok. I by no means let her sit there and cry but sometimes I can't get to her right away. With Cole it was so easy to drop everything the second he started crying because...well it was just him. She is starting to give me big gummy smiles when she wakes up from her nap. I can't believe she is 3 weeks old today. Time has flown by. Can't say I remember everything from the past 3 weeks:)

So our schedule is crazy, but I am going to try my hardest to blog about all the new and amazing things Cole and Eva are doing. So you might see 3 posts in one day, or one very long one. But I am so determined to keep up everything like I did with Cole. I love looking back to see everything Cole did.

We're still here!

I'm still alive....just exhausted. I guess that's absolutely no surprise with a newborn. You really forget what that exhaustion is like. She is still precious as ever, but I'm realizing how mellow Cole was! She is a good baby, but we have had our days where is she isn't eating or sleeping, she's screaming. But, I think that's a baby for ya. Cole was seriously just super mellow. I think he was saving up all his energy for when he was older.

She is still sleeping a lot. We get about 3-4 hour stretches at night, but during the day she only goes 1.5-2 hours between feedings. She is a little piggy!! Cole was the same way. Until we started solids with Cole, he was eating every 2 hours.

Cole's 18 month (yes my baby is a year and a half!!) and Eva's 2 week check up was on Tuesday. Cole was 28 pds and 34 in!! He is my big boy. Everything looked great with him. She said at his next appt (24 months) we will be talking potty training and getting rid of the binki. GAH!! I don't know which I'm more nervous about. Eva gained a whole 15 oz in 11 days. She is definitely following in her big brothers foot steps. She was 8pds 15 oz. Everything looked great with her as well.

Jared went back to work this week. I was really nervous. I wasn't sure how I would give Cole the attention he needs and take care of Eva's needs. Jared had been doing such an awesome job of playing with Cole...all.the.time. I thought he was really going to have a hard time with his daddy not being there all the time. He was definitely looking around for him on Monday but he did such an amazing job. I am seriously so proud of him. Luckily he is very good at keeping himself entertained. He is adjusting very well so far and we have been alone for 4 days and are still doing great:)

And here are some of pictures I did of Eva. You'll see from the pics with Cole how sweet he is with her. He is so gentle and loving. I love watching him with her, it's precious.

And the sweetest ones for last:)
