Yay sleep!!

We started a nightly routine with Cole about a week ago. Starting at around 7pm I get everything ready so we can go from one thing to the next without him having to wait around. We feed him his cereal, give him a bath, lather him up in lotion and get his jammies on, and then we all sit on the couch and read 2-3 books and then off to bed to rock and have a bottle. We've done at keeping this routine for over a week:) I am so proud of us! By the time all is said and done we are in the rocker around 7:50/8pm.

So since we've had all these sleep issues, I am hoping this helps. Well, last night he went to bed at 8 and was up around 11 for a bottle and then slept until 7:15 in the morning!! Woot woot! At 5am when I woke up and realized he hadn't woken up I quietly but very quickly went to check on him! He was unswaddled lying sideways in the crib:) At 6 he woke up (like he used to ) and I moved him to the swing. At 7:15 I had to wake him up for the day!! Go Cole... keep it up PLEASE!!

It's been a while since I posted pics of my little man so here are a few:

My jealous baby!

I started this week watching a 9 week old precious little girl. I'm only watching her from 8am-1pm this week, then next week I will be watching her from 8am-5:30pm...phew!! My baby is jealous!! The first day wasn't to bad. Then when she dropped her off yesterday, I put down Cole so I could get her. He SCREAMED when I put him down! I put him on his play mat which he normally loves.
Every time I held her, he would cry and I would have to sit next to him. Little stinker.

Today, same thing happened when she dropped her off. This time she had to put her in the bouncy seat because Cole wouldn't let me set him down. He was super fussy any time I held her or paid any attention to her:( Hopefully he gets used to it because he really has no choice.

On the plus side, the last 2 nights I haven't had to spend a portion of the night on Cole's floor. He was only up to eat and went right back to sleep. Given he did wake up 3 times to eat, I will take that over getting up every hour to pop his binki back in. Today, he was super sleepy when the baby was here. I put him in his crib with an aquarium thing that lights up and plays music. I put him down awake, turned it on, and left. I didn't hear a peep from him for about 25-30 min!! I went to check on him and he was just chillin in his crib. I have no idea if he fell asleep, but he didn't fuss or anything! This is a first. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke and I can do it more often.

I've been MIA!

So I have been having a hard time keeping up with my blog. Not too much is going on right now. We are trying to stay cool in the 100+degree weather. Yuck! I like summer, but not his type of summer. Cole is feeling better, but still sleeping horribly:( I think this is the most tired I have ever been in my entire life. I think I have a 5 day stretch in the past 6 weeks that I got more that a 2 hour stretch of sleep. Other than that it's up every 1-2 hours. I am in the middle of reading the "No Cry Sleep Solution." I have gotten into the habit of rocking Cole to sleep, so that's a monster I've created. I just want to get a few good nights sleep to be somewhat rejuvenated to try and put him down drowsy.

We also got hooked on the binki when he was sick:( He never needed it to sleep, but now this is a big reason he wakes up so often so I can pop it in his mouth. I have finally made a bed on his floor of his and when he starts fussing before I know he needs a bottle, I pop the binki in (which we usual fight over. I put it in, and in his sleep he pulls it out then cries) I sleep in there until his next feeding, then go back to bed for an hour or 2 then start it all over again. So needless to say I am one exhausted mama!!

I'm a little nervous because I start with a 9 week old on Monday. I'm excited Cole will have a little girlfriend to grow up with, but I will miss "our" time during the day. BUT, we got to pay the bills and it allows me to stay home with my boy. So I will probably be MIA some more till I get adjusted to the new schedule. I will have her M-F 8am-5:30pm. Now that's going to be a long day. I got to finally see her last week and she is a doll. So wish me luck and sanity as I am sure I'm about to loose it:)

Big boy!!!

Cole is slowly feeling better. His tummy is better, but he is still somewhat congested and has a yucky cough but it definitely doing better:)

So we had our 4 month check up this week. My baby weighs 19lbs 7.5oz!! Yup, my 4 month old weighs this much. He is in the 98th percentile!! He is 25 3/4 in long which is in the 72nd percentile. The pedi was very happy with his growth and development:) I was always a big baby and thinned out once I started moving. She is having us start him on rice cereal. First time was a big fat fail, but pretty stinkin funny!! He makes some of the funniest faces. We caught his first bites on camera (of course:) Next month we get to start fruits and veggies. I'm sure that will be interesting. Hopefully he won't be as picky as his mommy and daddy!

Oh, and I forgot to brag about how awesome he did with his shots!! I was SO proud of him. He didn't cry when they gave him the oral for the rotovirus (however it's spelled) which he screamed through last time. Of course he did cry when he got the shots, but stopped almost as soon as I picked him up. What a big boy:) I love this kid!!

My poor baby!

I'll spare the details, but my baby has had a tummy bug since last Wednesday:( At least this time he isn't projectile vomiting everywhere... well I'll explain this in a minute!! He hasn't acted like he feels bad and hasn't had a fever, but his diapers tell us otherwise. I called the pedi just to make sure they didn't want to see him. One of the pedi's I've never met suggested I put him back on soy formula. I reminded them of what happened last time (projectile vomit) and she said that it might be ok now that he is older. So I tried it. The second bottle I gave him, I sat him up and puke everywhere. I very annoyingly said "NO MORE SOY!" Not annoyed with Cole, but with the pedi.

So off to the walk-in's on Friday to see his primary pedi. She said he didn't look dehydrated and put him on pedialyte. She agreed, no more soy!! But can I tell you how much my "little" 4 month old weighs? 19.10 pds!!! WHAT?? Where is he hiding it? He doesn't look that big, but sure enough he is. I go in tomorrow for his 4 month appointment so we shall see what, if any, percentile he is in.

Ok, back to my poor baby. Pedialyte didn't make a difference, which she said it might not. So Saturday he woke up with a yucky cough. By Sunday it was worse:( Saturday night he wouldn't sleep without me holding him. Of course I held him all night because I knew he didn't feel good. So needless to say I was exhausted. I just want to take it all away and make him feel better. Last night I made a bed on his floor and slept in there after he was up the first time. I wanted to keep him in his room with his humidifier and vicks.

Today his tummy seems better but he still has a cough and congestion, but over all seems to be acting better. Hopefully everything will clear up asap!!

4 months

I seriously don't remember 3 months!! It was the longest, yet shortest month ever. Makes sense, right? We had a lot of sleep issues his past month, so that could have a lot to do with it. But his personality gets sweeter and sweeter by the day! He is just so much fun, and I know it's only just beginning.

So far this month we have learned:
-He has a bit of a temper!! Yikes! If he can't get ahold of something or drops a toy, he flips his lid.
-He is now putting everything he gets a hold of in his mouth... everything!
-He discovered his cute little feet. I love when babies hold their feet. Makes diaper changes fun:0
-He loves peek-a-boo! We started doing it with him this month and he thinks it's a hoot.

I'm sure we have learned much more, but I'm drawing a blank. So enjoy my big 4 month old! He was under the weather when we took these pics, so I didn't get my big smile I love:(

Wordless Wednesday

Ok... I can't really do too much wordless-ly:) So I have to add some captions!

He loved his faux hawk

First trip to the beach

Happy 4th of July!

So Cole survived his first fourth of July. We went to visit Jared's grandma who is in the nursing home on Saturday. The only other time she has met Cole was her son's funeral. She is 93 and has her good days and bad. She lives an hour away so we just haven't had a chance to visit her. I was excited for her to see Cole. She was having an awesome day. She remembered me and knew who Cole was. We got a few good pics with her which I will cherish.

After we left there we went to our friends house who Jared grew up with. He and his wife had a baby about a month after Cole was born. Cole looked like he could eat Luke!! I knew he was a big baby, but man... he looked so big next to him. We decided not to take him to fire works because he freaks out at loud noises anyways. I didn't want to scar him. Maybe next year we will watch them...in the car:)

Sunday we had a neighborhood parade. The kids could all decorate their bikes, wagons, strollers. We decked out Cole's stroller. A fire truck led the kids around our cul-de-sac. It was super cute. Cole, of course, could have cared less. He will enjoy it one day. Later that night we had a cookout in the middle of our cul-de-sac. It was above 90 degrees so we didn't last too long outside. It was nice catching up with all the neighbors and seeing all the kids.

Doesn't he look excited?

All in all it was a great weekend!!

Houston we have a roller!!

Cole rolled for the first time Friday night (July 3rd). I knew he was getting close so I always have my camera ready when I put him on his tummy. I had just given him a bath and was changing him in our family room. I set him on his tummy and he just rolled right over! I wasn't ready with the camera, I need a do over:) I thought it was a fluke because he did it so easily, but sure enough he did it again ... when I wasn't ready... again yesterday. So YAY!! Go Cole! I'm so proud of you baby:)
